Job summary

Maple Reinders is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Civil Estimating team, focusing on Water/Wastewater projects across Canada. You will prepare tenders from concept to submission and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for cost estimates.

The role requires 7+ years in estimating Water/Wastewater, strong Excel skills, and experience with Bluebeam, Planswift and CostX. A university degree or Red Seal certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience estimating Water/Wastewater projects.
• Experience as Project Manager & Estimator in Water/Wastewater.
• Background as Project Manager, Superintendent, or trades person in Water/Wastewater.
• Mechanical experience in food & beverage or chemical industry is asset.
• Process Mechanical experience preferred.
• Civil excavation and site piping experience would be asset.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Bluebeam/Planswift/CostX is asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders.
• Review drawings and specs to understand project needs and risk.
• Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and review subcontractor scopes of work.
• Prepare quality take-offs focusing on self-performed tasks.
• Close tenders with senior management.
• Finalize tender submissions.
• Assist with coding of estimates.
• Review preliminary schedules using MS Project.
• Identify construction risks and opportunities.
• Communicate with engineers, owners, contractors and subs.
• Support bid opportunities and strategies.
• Participate in proposals with Major Projects team.
• Build relationships with subs, suppliers and engineers.
• Mentor and coach junior staff.
• Determine flow and sequencing of construction activities.
