Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a 12-month contract to support an owner-side engineering and project team on a major greenfield mining development. You will review civil drawings, specs, and data sheets and act as the senior reviewer of packages from EPC/EPCM firms and vendors.

You will identify design deficiencies, drive comments to resolution, and coordinate with multiple disciplines. The role may require project travel; a P.Eng.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. designation in the Canadian province where stationed.
• 10+ years progressive civil engineering experience in mining, heavy industrial, or large-scale capital projects.
• Experience reviewing civil deliverables from EPC/EPCM firms, providers, consultants, or vendors.
• Identify design deficiencies and provide technical comments and redlines.
• Strong understanding of civil codes, standards, and design criteria for major industrial projects.
• Experience as owner-side reviewer/Owner’s Engineer in large projects.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review civil drawings, specifications, data sheets, engineering packages and interfaces.
• Identify deficiencies, missing information, and interface concerns; provide comments and redlines.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and drive issues back to resolution with providers.
• Review deliverables from EPC/EPCM firms and engineering vendors for compliance.
• Support interfacing with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical teams.

Insight Global is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer for an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension, supporting an owner-side engineering and project team on a major greenfield mining development. This individual will provide additional technical capacity to the existing Civil Lead and act as a senior owner-side reviewer of civil engineering produced by external Engineering Service Providers, EPC/EPCM firms, consultants, and vendors. Responsibilities include reviewing civil drawings, specifications, data sheets, engineering packages, and multidisciplinary interfaces against project requirements, design criteria, and applicable codes and standards. The Senior Civil Engineer will identify design deficiencies, missing or inadequate information, and interface concerns, provide technical comments and redlines, coordinate with other disciplines, and drive issues back through engineering providers to resolution. The position may require project-related travel. The successful candidate must hold a P.Eng. designation in the Canadian province where they will be stationed.

Skills and Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience within mining, heavy industrial, or comparable large-scale capital project environments
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in the Canadian province where the individual will be stationed
• Demonstrated experience working in an owner-side engineering, Owner’s Engineer, Integrated Project Team, EPC/EPCM, or comparable technical assurance environment
• Proven experience independently reviewing civil engineering deliverables produced by EPC/EPCM firms, Engineering Service Providers, consultants, or vendors
• Strong experience reviewing civil drawings, specifications, data sheets, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary engineering packages
• Demonstrated ability to identify civil design deficiencies, missing information, and interface issues and provide technically sound comments and redlines
• Experience working directly with engineering providers to drive design comments and deficiencies through resolution and closeout
• Strong understanding of applicable civil engineering codes, standards, design criteria, and engineering practices within major industrial project environments
• Experience coordinating civil engineering requirements and interfaces with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines
• Technical depth and seniority to independently challenge engineering-provider work and represent an owner’s technical requirements
• Direct mining or mineral-processing project experience
• Greenfield mine development experience
• Experience on large-scale greenfield capital projects
• Previous experience representing an owner while reviewing EPC/EPCM or consultant-produced civil engineering packages
• Experience supporting major remote industrial or mining developments
• Experience with earthworks, site development, and site grading
• Experience with roads, drainage, water management, and site utilities
• Experience with underground infrastructure
• Experience managing civil/geotechnical engineering interfaces
• Experience progressing engineering packages from design review through construction/execution readiness
• Saskatchewan APEGS registration or eligibility
