Job description

Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension, supporting an owner-side engineering and project team on a major greenfield mining development. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will act as a senior owner-side technical reviewer, evaluating mechanical engineering deliverables produced by external Engineering Service Providers, EPC/EPCM firms, consultants, and vendors. This individual will review mechanical drawings, specifications, data sheets, engineering packages, and multidisciplinary interfaces against project requirements, design criteria, applicable codes and standards, and overall project requirements. They will identify technical deficiencies, provide comments and redlines, challenge engineering providers where required, and drive issues through resolution so engineering packages can progress toward construction and execution. Travel may be required depending on project needs. The successful candidate must hold a P.Eng. designation in the Canadian province where they will be stationed.

Skills and Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience within mining, mineral processing, heavy industrial, or comparable large-scale capital project environments
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in the Canadian province where the individual will be stationed
  • Demonstrated owner-side engineering, Owner's Engineer, Integrated Project Team, EPC/EPCM, or comparable technical assurance experience
  • Proven experience independently reviewing mechanical engineering deliverables produced by EPC/EPCM firms, Engineering Service Providers, consultants, or vendors
  • Strong experience reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, data sheets, equipment documentation, and engineering packages
  • Demonstrated ability to identify mechanical design deficiencies, provide technically sound comments/redlines, and work with engineering providers through resolution and closeout
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and equipment within large industrial or capital-project environments
  • Experience coordinating mechanical engineering requirements and interfaces with piping, structural, civil, electrical, process, and other engineering disciplines
  • Technical depth and seniority to independently challenge engineering-provider work and represent the owner's technical requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concerns to consultants, vendors, and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
  • Direct mining or mineral-processing project experience
  • Experience with underground mining infrastructure and mechanical systems
  • Large-scale greenfield capital-project experience
  • Previous experience representing an owner while reviewing EPC/EPCM or consultant-produced mechanical engineering packages
  • Experience reviewing vendor engineering, equipment specifications, data sheets, and technical bid packages
  • Experience with mechanical equipment and systems used in heavy industrial or mineral-processing environments
  • Experience developing and reviewing multidisciplinary interfaces between mechanical equipment, piping, structural supports, electrical systems, and process requirements
  • Experience reviewing vendor engineering, where we’ve (?? - but there's a truncated missing? ) and then we see a mismatch in bullet description in the skill box. I suspect that the content is garbled. Let's see: "Experience progressing engineering packages from design review through construction/execution readiness
  • Experience working within large multidisciplinary engineering programs
  • Saskatchewan APEGS registration or eligibility
