Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Senior Category Development Manager for the Disposable Packaging Category. You will participate in the overall purchasing business plan and own strategic category development within your area, driving supplier performance and cost savings.

Role requires 7–10 years in purchasing and supply chain, a post-secondary education in purchasing, strong strategic planning and negotiation skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management in a fast-paced environment.
• Post-secondary education in purchasing or related studies.
• Excellent strategic planning skills and strong analytical abilities.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Now if you come on board as a Senior Category Development Manager, Disposable Packaging Category we’d ask you to do the following for us:

• Participate in overall purchasing business plan and own the strategic development of category plans within your area of responsibility and ensure efficient management of other functions, delivering overall business objectives and enhance business performance.
• Develop and implement five (5) year category plan for assigned category, to align Foodbuy business plans with optimal supply base to drive supplier performance, cost savings for the organization.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers to Foodbuy.
• Remain current on industry trends that could lead to development of new strategic initiatives in providing sustainable growth, sales, and profitability.
• Act as trusted advisor to senior leadership on market insights and procurement strategies.
• Participate in strategic sourcing efforts within category as requested/required, exhibit shared leadership focus in support of the 7-Step Process, suggest on-going continuous improvements, ensure teams work in strong collaboration; encourage cross-functional synergies in driving maximum value to the organization.
• Provide both day-to-day and long-term project management of assigned category activities/initiatives for Foodbuy.
• Identify product and category growth opportunities and create plans to support execution for strategic and major category assignments.
• Communicate with procurement and distribution to ensure a robust understanding of the marketplace, issues and opportunities so they can continuously update the clients.
• Implement supplier and product rationalization program.
• Use formal analysis tools such as cost models and portfolio analysis to manage categories and suppliers.
• Lead and conduct quarterly business performance reviews with representatives from key business stakeholders and suppliers.
• Conduct tactical negotiations with suppliers.
• Lead project management and implementation of new suppliers’ programs.
• Mentor and manage any direct reports within Category team.
• Special projects or other duties as assigned.
