Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a Senior Buyer for a 12-month contract in Marine Procurement. Qualifications

Senior Buyer - Marine (12 Month Contract)

Location: Victoria, BC or Ottawa, ON

Expected Salary: $67,021 to $100,532

The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the Operational Procurement Team and Procurement Manager, including staff management and development.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for Marine Procurement & Supply Chain.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring responsiveness, accountability, and reliability.
  • Utilize analytical tools to measure, report, and manage performance, risks, and quality.
  • Support project delivery through rigorous contract and supplier performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Develop supplier relationships and monitor their performance regarding time, cost, and quality.
  • Lead procurement process improvements and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure occupational health & safety for all direct reports.
  • Assist with daily procurement operations as needed.

The ideal candidate brings:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain, with 3 years in leadership.
  • Experience in the Defence / Marine industry is highly desirable.
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Certification from the National Institute of Supply Chain Management or similar is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with stakeholder influence ability.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, Power BI, etc., is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices, including global supply impacts.
  • Experience with ERP systems related to procurement and supply chain management.
  • Eligibility for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
