Job summary

AltaSteel Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our team in Edmonton.

The role involves evaluating the full value chain for supply opportunities, collecting market intelligence, forecasting, sourcing, negotiating, and creating contracts while ensuring policy compliance. You will work with stakeholders to review supply and process opportunities, prepare procurement plans, analyze specifications, obtain quotes, and manage vendor information.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in Procurement role with strong background in sourcing and negotiation.
• SCMP designation or bachelor’s degree
• Manufacturing facility experience would be considered an asset
• ERP system data transactions; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience considered an asset
• Highly experienced in Microsoft Office programs and able to utilize them effectively
• Attention to detail, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively
• Logical, highly organized, focused and able to multi-task effectively
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Self-motivated, team player with a helpful and positive attitude

Responsibilities

• Obtain quotes, negotiate with vendors, source items and follow delivery
• Create, maintain and update product and vendor information
• Receive and review requirement requisitions
• Working with AltaSteel stakeholders to ensure adequate purchasing to maintain inventory levels

This will include collecting market intelligence, forecasting, sourcing, analyzing, negotiating, management review, administering terms & conditions and contract creation while maintaining compliance with AltaSteel policies.
