Mission

Located in Boucherville, my client is a manufacturing SME recognized for its expertise in the production of complex metal components.

As part of the continued development of its procurement function, the company is looking for a Senior Buyer who can manage procurement activities while bringing strong added value in supplier negotiation, strategic sourcing, and cost optimization.

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of the raw materials, components, and services required for production.

The position combines operational responsibilities with a strong strategic component: approximately 70% of the role focuses on supplier negotiations, sourcing, RFQs/RFPs, cost optimization, and supplier management, while approximately 30% involves purchase order processing and follow-up.

You will manage categories including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, hardware, metal components, and various subcontracting services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies required for production;
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and commercial conditions with suppliers;
  • Develop and maintain a strong supplier network while identifying new sourcing opportunities;
  • Manage RFQs/RFPs and conduct pricing analyses to optimize procurement costs;
  • Challenge suppliers and monitor their performance in terms of cost, quality, and on-time delivery;
  • Closely monitor open purchase orders and delivery dates to prevent shortages and production disruptions;
  • Manage subcontracting requirements, including painting, plating, heat treatment, and other specialized processes;
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and estimating teams to anticipate requirements;
  • Contribute to inventory optimization initiatives and the reduction of excess stock;
  • Leverage ERP systems and available data to analyze requirements, pricing history, and supplier performance.
Your profile
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of procurement/purchasing experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in metal fabrication, machining, welding, or assembly is strongly preferred;
  • Good knowledge of purchasing raw materials and components such as steel, aluminum, hardware, and metal parts;
  • Strong experience in supplier negotiations, sourcing, and RFQ/RFP processes;
  • Experience working with an ERP system; knowledge of Epicor is considered a strong asset;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, particularly PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP;
  • Ability to work with technical documentation, drawings, and supplier specifications;
  • Education in supply chain management, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
  • Functional proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.
What Will Set You Apart

We are looking for an autonomous, proactive, and dynamic professional who can quickly take ownership of their responsibilities.

You are recognized for your ability to challenge suppliers, negotiate effectively, solve problems, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Strong priority management skills, comfort working with data and digital tools, and the ability to collaborate closely with operations will be key to your success.
