ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Projects Manager, Digital Experience and Web Transformation, the Senior Business Support Analyst is responsible for supporting and improving the Region's digital platforms, including york.ca, the intranet, and related websites. The role serves as the Region's lead technical resource for Drupal-based web platforms, responsible for platform administration, configuration, architecture, optimization, and DevOps practices including release management, CI/CD automation, deployment coordination, and platform reliability, while providing technical and business support, coordinating enhancements and releases, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring digital services are accessible, reliable, secure, and user-focused.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Lead the administration, configuration, and continuous improvement of Drupal-based digital platforms, including website architecture, content models, workflows, permissions, integrations, navigation, and content governance.
- Act as the primary platform expert and product lead for digital experience enhancements, working with business stakeholders, Communications, Technology Services, and vendors to define requirements, prioritize improvements, and deliver user-centred digital solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and governance for accessibility compliance, search optimization, analytics, performance monitoring, security, quality assurance, and digital experience best practices.
- Support and enable content authors and business users by providing guidance on Drupal functionality, information architecture, content management, troubleshooting, and the continuous evolution of the Region's digital service delivery capabilities.
- Analyzes user requirements and departmental technology needs, generating alternative approaches to information systems design.
- Provides cost-effective solutions to meet both departmental and provincial objectives through the application of information technologies.
- Contributes to the analysis, design, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of digital platforms and related integrations.
- Reviews and evaluates the outcomes of program and systems testing in collaboration with team members and end-users.
- Contributes to project planning and control by estimating and coordinating assigned work, providing technical guidance and support, and ensuring deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules.
- Responsible for the evaluation and selection of software and vendor resources ensuring compliance with budget plans.
- Provides leadership and guidance to junior positions.
- Collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to strategic plans, implementation plans, and ongoing support of automation initiatives within the supported departments.
- Prepares technology-related reports, memos, drafts, letters, guidelines, and other correspondence, and conducts presentations to meet departmental requirements.
- Co-ordinates and liaises with the federal, provincial, regional and community database links and systems as required.
- Regularly reviews technical literature regarding system methodologies, development productivity tools and techniques, and attends seminars, conferences and training, as required.
- Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
- Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives, that are required to meet departmental objectives including scheduled and emergency tasks beyond normal business hours.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems Technology, or related field, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in information systems project implementation and support.
- Experience and demonstrated ability with relational databases.
- Demonstrated experience using Web Services to integrate applications.
- Experience in assessing application technology and end user needs and recommending solutions.
- Knowledge of the application development cycle.
- Knowledge of trends in the use of current information technology.
- Project management, presentation, problem solving, and team leadership skills.
- Ability to aid in the design, configuration and implementation of business transaction processes.
- Ability to demonstrate the Region’s core competencies.
- Advanced skills in virtual platforms and MS Office Suite.
