Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Bridge Structural Engineer in Burlington, ON to lead inspection, preliminary and detailed design of bridges and related structures. You will collaborate with a regional team delivering projects for federal, provincial and municipal clients.

The role requires a P.E. in Ontario with 5–10 years in bridge engineering, strong knowledge of CHBDC/AREMA, and experience in contract administration and supervision. A valid driver's license is also expected.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer registered in Ontario with 5-10 years demonstrated experience in structural design and bridge engineering in Canada.
• Strong knowledge of current Canadian design codes and standards including CHBDC and AREMA.
• Experience with inspection, assessment, recommendations, and rehabilitation of existing structures.
• Experience with contract administration and construction supervision.
• Experienced in report and proposal writing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preliminary and detail design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures on assignments of moderate size, scope, diversity and/or complexity.
• Prepare engineering drawings.
• Prepare form of tenders, quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates.
• Check designs and drawings.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents.
• Review shop drawings.
• Carry out contract administration and construction supervision.
• Prepare reports and proposals.
• Undertake bridge inspections, assessments, and reports.
• Provide technical guidance to support staff, contractors, and/or vendors.
