Job summary

RBC is seeking engineers to build modern, scalable backend services at the Toronto office. You will work on customer-facing applications using Java/NodeJS and cloud-native tools, delivering high-performance services as part of an agile team.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in backend development, experience with distributed cloud apps (OpenShift, Docker, Azure), RESTful APIs, and a proactive approach to learning and collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of backend development in Java/NodeJS.
• 2+ years developing distributed cloud apps (OpenShift, Docker, Azure).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Experience with code reviews and source control management.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace).
• Knowledge of software design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Create new services and customer-facing applications using modern technologies.
• Write scalable, high-performance, maintainable, reusable services.
• Champion agile practices within a product team and contribute to team health and culture.
• Provide coaching and support to teammates.
• Collaborate across business, product, and technology teams to deliver exceptional products.
