Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers (Canada) Limited seeks a Senior Underwriter to lead profitable aviation insurance business under the guidance of the Underwriting Director. This established role within the underwriting department emphasizes strategic review, broker relations, and market-driven product optimization.

The position requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge for Canada, and fluency in English and French.

Qualifications

• Ten years of aviation underwriting or related risk experience.
• Knowledge of Commercial Hull, Commercial Liability, Private Aircraft and General Liability terms.
• Experience in managing insurance programs.
• Ability to interpret underwriting and administrative policies.
• Strong written and spoken communication, negotiation and customer service.
• French and English language skills preferred.
• Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulatory framework.
• Ability to work well in a small team and handle conflicts.
• Keen interest in aviation.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate new and renewal business against underwriting standards and rating criteria.
• Provide expeditious professional service to new and renewing customers with the Underwriting Support team.
• Develop relationships with aviation brokers and clients to communicate underwriting value proposition.
• Drive new business opportunities externally and via broker/channel strategies.
• Assist Underwriting Director in portfolio review and optimization.
• Analyze market activity and broker feedback, informing pricing and product enhancements.
• Monitor workload distribution and ensure efficient resource allocation and service levels.
• Manage profitability and growth of volume-based aviation products including Drone, PB&P, and portal channels.
• Mentor other underwriters and underwriting staff; participate in industry conferences.
