Allianz Trade North America is seeking a Senior Surety Underwriter to market and underwrite the Canadian surety portfolio, cultivate broker relationships, and drive profitable growth across Canada.

The successful candidate will have 4+ years in surety, strong knowledge of the Canadian market, bilingual English and French, and proven ability to grow a portfolio while working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industry experience in surety underwriting or related field.
• Knowledge of the Canadian surety market.
• Entrepreneurial mindset to establish and achieve goals.
• Proven track record developing business with brokers.
• 4‑year university degree in business, economics, or finance.
• Proven ability to underwrite and grow a surety portfolio.
• Strong relationships with local brokers.
• Expertise in underwriting surety accounts and risks.
• Able to work in a fast‑paced, service‑driven environment.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with limited oversight.
• Proficiency in English and French (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Execute the strategic business plan for Allianz Trade North America’s Surety business in Canada.
• Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio through broker engagement.
• Document decisions and recommendations consistently and transparently.
• Conduct underwriting activities in line with underwriting guidelines and portfolio requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas and internationally to leverage surety capabilities.
• Attend industry groups and local surety events as requested by the VP of Surety.
• Perform other duties and projects as required.
