Overview
The role is a hands-on Test Automation Lead with a strong track record delivering scalable test automation in large, complex country transformation programs. Reporting to the global head of LATAM Testing, you will help manage the team’s central automation function, providing technical leadership while partnering with functional testers and delivery teams across front, middle, and back office applications. You will need strong experience in automation strategy, a deep understanding of modern test tooling and frameworks (including GenAI use cases) and be comfortable operating across cloud-native and on-prem environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a modular, reusable test automation framework centered on Selenium, UFT, Postman, SoapUI and Java Test Suite (including test automation, orchestrations, and GenAI-assisted test generation/analysis).
- Integrate API, UI, data, and workflow automation to validate complex cross-application processes and data lineage.
- Collaborate with functional Test Leads, application developers and technical SMEs to embed test automation early and effectively in the delivery lifecycle.
- Lead the planning, execution and reporting of automated test activities across Alpha client implementations.
- Define and promote standards, tools, and best practices for test automation, ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Define and track quality cost of automation, coupled with capturing quantitative and qualitative return on investment (ROI) metrics across client implementations.
- Estimate automation effort, manage capacity and budget-to-actuals, and handle change control for automation scope.
- Prioritize high-value candidates for automation using risk-based, data-driven methods.
- Drive defect prevention via root-cause analysis and observability (structured logs, dashboards).
- Mentor automation engineers and functional testers, fostering capability growth and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate subordinates' performance and make decisions on pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
- Use evaluative judgment in complicated or novel situations; influence IT Quality through planning, finances/budget, end results, and policy setting.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
- Strong grounding in software engineering for tests: Git, branching, code review, dependency management.
- Experience automating API, UI, data, and workflow tests across cloud-native and on-prem systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive and pragmatic approach to problem solving and team collaboration.
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery and tooling (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, Confluence).
- Solid analytical and organizational skills; comfortable in fast-paced, distributed delivery contexts.
- Understanding of portfolio management/trading workflows and risk/control frameworks.
- Testing Automation Experience and proven track record of Technology Transformation Engineering is mandatory.
- Experience in multi-regional global roles as Testing Automation Engineer.
- 10+ years of IT Quality experience with people management; substantial experience in a senior technology leadership role with strong communication skills at senior levels.
- Deep technical expertise and business knowledge, with knowledge of industry rules and regulations and best practices for running large-scale technology environments. A senior change leader who recruits, develops, retains, manages, and inspires exceptional talent.
- Proven client focus and ability to partner with senior business stakeholders; ability to build and lead high-performing teams and foster collaboration.
- Demonstrated process management skills with experience in operational structure and procedures.
- Strategic leader with a track record of working closely with senior business partners and multiple stakeholders; acts as an advisor on risk and control.
Education
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
