Job description

Reporting to the Team Lead, Audio-Video Services, the Senior Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for enhancing Teck's return on investment in audio video technologies. This outstanding candidate will draw from a breadth of experience in designing, integrating, and managing commercial AV systems to deliver excellence across Teck's diverse business units! This individual will be accountable for the full AV lifecycle including proof of concept, commissioning and quality control, alongside service and maintenance. This role is highly collaborative in nature and will require effective coordination with a range of internal and external partners including tech support, leadership, project delivery, vendors/integrators, subcontractors/engineers, designers and architects.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Prioritize the security of company assets by ensuring industry and manufacturer standard processes are followed. Support Teck's internal cybersecurity teams by completing training, identifying and remediating vulnerabilities
  • Lead the design of high performance, cost efficient AV systems ranging from simple meeting rooms to sophisticated executive boardrooms and multi-use spaces. Conduct detailed needs analysis with partners while aligning with Teck's documented standard
  • Manage AV projects from conception to completion, coordinating with multi-functional teams and ensuring timelines, budgets, and business requirements are met
  • Supervise installations either in person or remotely, ensuring site and integrator readiness. Take an active role in commissioning systems including configuration, updates, testing, and quality control
  • Lead project documentation including cost estimates/BOM/SOW for projects of all sizes. Work with integrators to compile and validate detailed drawings prior to construction, followed by as-builts
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to assemble comprehensive bid packages for vendor response
  • Assist the business with planning and driving high profile meetings and events on site and remotely
  • Respond to technical issues to improve uptime and implement workarounds as required. Proactively and reactively support end users and tech support teams
  • Conduct regular health checks and perform maintenance including security/firmware updates on AV systems
  • Cultivate productive and positive relationships within and outside IT, providing an executive level, white glove experience
  • Support installations, break/fix, and event support at various Teck sites and locations outside Vancouver. Typically not more than four weeks per year
  • Seek opportunities to improve the team's products, processes and services by making use of tools and automation wherever possible. Stay up to date on industry leading solutions and trends to provide balanced options to the business
Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in commercial AV systems design, integration, and support
  • Industry certifications such as AVIXA CTS, or manufacturer certifications including CCNA, Dante, Q-SYS are considered an asset
  • In depth knowledge of company primary manufacturers and platforms:
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms (Windows and Android, Logitech/Cisco/Poly)
  • Q-SYS AVoIP/Audio/Control, VisionSuite
  • Crestron Control
  • Shure Audio (wired/wireless)
  • Biamp Audio (DSP/paging/sound masking)
  • Barco ClickShare
  • Navori Digital Signage
  • dvLED including LG, Planar
  • Management tools including MTR Pro Portal, AVI-SPL Symphony
  • Event/streaming technologies including Teams Town Hall, vMix, OBS, NDI, RTMP/RTSP, CDNs
    • Experience implementing modern AV technologies such as Dante, AES67, Q-LAN, AVoIP on a secure, converged enterprise network
    • In depth experience working with architects and subcontractors to ensure infrastructure is built to support AV including power, data, conduit, wood blocking, and cooling
    • Experience coordinating and integrating AV in high end finishes and architectural solutions including millwork, acoustic treatments, wall systems, recessed alcoves, and custom furniture (coring/cable cubbies/etc)
    • Familiarity working in older buildings in industrial settings is an asset, such as handling with acoustic issues, asbestos, vibration, ambient light, or cable path limitations
    • Experience gathering, analyzing and visualizing relevant data such as room utilization, user experience ratings, break/fix reports for review by leadership
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently using relevant resources
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse parties
