Qualifications

Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 / year, plus benefits, discretionary bonus

Schedule: Monday – Friday, with the requirement to work on weekends during busy season

Objective

The Senior Accountant (Taxation) role is pivotal in delivering exceptional accounting and financial services to our diverse clientele, encompassing responsibilities including corporate tax planning, personal taxation, restructuring, audits, reviews, compilations, and compliance activities. The successful candidate will maintain the firm’s standards of excellence, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to support our clients’ financial health and growth.

Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of a university degree;
  • Holding a Canadian CPA designation or nearing its completion;
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of taxation experience in public practice;
  • Holding a CPA In-Depth Tax Certification or Masters in Taxation, preferred;
  • Knowledge of the impact of accounting adjustments on corporate taxes, and completion of corporate tax returns.
Duties
  • Spearhead the preparation and meticulous review of complex file documentation and tax returns to ensure adherence to the latest accounting standards and tax laws.
  • Engage directly with clients to address their accounting needs, building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships while improving internal processes to enhance productivity and client satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all engagements are completed in alignment with the firm’s rigorous standards, demonstrating exceptional project management skills and a commitment to excellence. Lead and mentor junior staff, providing guidance to foster their professional growth while ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in their output.
  • Contribute significantly to the firm’s success and the financial health of our clientele.
Technology

Our firm is technologically-focused and uses several key software (and cloud) tools to keep us organized and productive. We require extensive experience with: CaseWare, ProFile or TaxPrep, and the Microsoft Office Suite (mainly Excel, Word, and Outlook). Experience with Quickbooks, Xero, and other desktop and cloud accounting software is an asset.
