  • Experience with Caseware, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar software is preferred.
  • CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation and year-end engagements with working papers, adjusting entries, financial statements, and schedules.
  • Prepare Canadian corporate (T2) and personal (T1) tax returns and related filings.
  • Review client accounting records, investigate discrepancies, and resolve routine accounting and tax issues.
  • Assist with CRA correspondence and other client tax matters.
  • Manage engagements, including timelines, budgets, information requests, and client communication.
  • Ensure files are complete, accurate, and ready for Manager or Partner review.
  • Communicate with clients regarding accounting matters, deadlines, and inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to Articling Students and junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate workflow and time records and communicate delays or issues.
  • Participate in professional development and Firm training.

Job description

The Senior Associate is an experienced public accounting professional responsible for completing accounting and tax engagements with a high degree of independence. The role requires strong technical knowledge, effective file management, and the ability to identify and resolve routine accounting and tax issues with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and complete compilation and other year-end engagements, including working papers, adjusting entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare Canadian corporate (T2) and personal (T1) income tax returns and related filings.
  • Review client accounting records, investigate discrepancies, and resolve routine accounting and tax issues.
  • Assist with CRA correspondence and other client tax matters.
  • Manage assigned engagements, including timelines, budgets, outstanding information, and client communication.
  • Ensure files are complete, accurate, and ready for Manager or Partner review.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting matters, deadlines, outstanding information, and routine inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to Articling Students and junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate workflow and time records and promptly communicate significant delays or engagement issues.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and Firm training.
