Shackleton Duke Ltd is pleased to announce that, in conjunction with our client, a leading Developer / Owner based in Ontario, we are currently looking to hire Senior & Multiple Assistant Superintendents to join their team in the GTA.

The ideal candidates will possess experience in – Concrete base, Structural Steel, RC Frame, Building Envelope & Glazing built structures, including projects such as Commercial, Mixed Use, Residential, Condo & Underground Parking – ALL NEW BUILD spread out over acres.

They believe in a relaxed approach to construction with an emphasis on a “team” atmosphere from management and staff to consistently deliver on a multi-billion dollar range of projects.

Ideally, you will come from a Developer (self-performing) background, capable of operating at a Lead level for Developer or GC, working closely with affiliated Developers, GCs, and Sub-trades.

Their staff are competent professionals, both on-site and in the office, with extensive experience across all construction disciplines. The team combines industry veterans with decades of experience and new recruits under the supervision of seasoned project managers, ensuring high-quality work and professionalism.

Superintendent Performance Objectives

• Manage all facets of construction, including communication with Owners, Developers, General Contractors, Consultants, and Sub-trades.
• Supervise all sub-trades, suppliers, and on-site personnel to ensure work adheres to scope of work.
• Address complex or unique issues as they arise internally or externally.

Superintendent Role and Responsibilities

• Responsible for onsite construction planning, including schedule and logistics.
• Coordinate with safety personnel to maintain a safe, orderly site compliant with WorkSafe regulations.
• Review all General Contractor and Sub-trade scopes of work to understand tasks.
• Review RFIs and SIs promptly, communicating issues or changes.
• Understand and review shop drawings.
• Maintain and drive the schedule, focusing on work sequence to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Ensure project materials are ordered and supplied timely.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Ensure construction aligns with plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Complete and submit daily Superintendent Reports.
• Work with Project Manager and Sub-trades to keep the project within budget.
• Communicate daily with the Project Manager regarding concerns or conflicts.
• Review additional work requests with the Project Manager before authorization.
• Coordinate inspections with consultants and municipal authorities, including final occupancy inspections.
• Conduct weekly Sub-trade meetings to monitor progress and resolve issues.
• Maintain good relationships and open communication with Owners, sub-trades, suppliers, and team members.

Qualifications
