Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Specifications Writer to join our Buildings team. The role focuses on creating project-specific manuals, coordinating architectural and consultant specs, and maintaining a robust digital library for MasterFormat-based documents.

You will work with Chorus/MasterSpec, CMS tools, and collaboration across project teams to ensure accurate, procurement-ready specifications and effective communication with Owners and Contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience editing/writing architectural construction specifications.
• Strong knowledge of MasterFormat and project delivery guides.
• Experience with building construction and design teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce project manuals with procurement and general requirements.
• Prepare manuals consistent with project needs.
• Produce preliminary criteria using UniFormat.
• Prepare tabular specs with MasterFormat in MS Word.
• Create full specs with Chorus using MasterSpec and client masters.
• Coordinate with project team to align specs with drawings.
• Maintain and expand specifier's digital library.
• Provide technical resources for project teams.
• Train and mentor staff; stay current with products and standards.
• Collaborate with product reps; manage substitutions and disputes.
• Stay informed on CSA, UL, FM etc.
• Create and update e-SPECS MasterSpec database.
• Produce and update masters.
