Job summary

Stantec's Toronto office is seeking an architect to join its Buildings Studio. The architect will translate client needs into cohesive design solutions, producing drawings and written material to support the project conceptual direction.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, present ideas, and work on site planning, elevations, sections, and details while coordinating building systems and participating in design reviews.

Qualifications

• Experience translating client needs into cohesive design solutions.
• Strong ability to present ideas in formal and informal settings.
• Experience with site planning, elevations, sections and detailing.

Responsibilities

• Supports project teams in development of design documentation.
• Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical/electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
• Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models and participates in design critiques.
• Interprets and applies building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases (site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, details).
• Coordinates building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, and assists in contract administration.
• Coordinates specs with construction documents.
• Assists in evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
• Participates in project coordination meetings and value engineering.
