Job summary

Johnson Service Group in Toronto seeks a Senior Application Support & Systems Engineer with strong GCP, GKE/Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and production support experience.

This contract role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days in the office. You will handle incident triage, troubleshooting, and rapid recovery for distributed cloud applications, implement monitoring with Grafana/Prometheus, and support Jenkins-driven deployments.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in production environments.
• Strong experience with GKE/Kubernetes, including supporting and troubleshooting Kubernetes-based apps.
• Experience implementing and supporting observability, monitoring, and alerting using Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, or similar.
• Strong production deployment and application support experience, incl. incident triage, troubleshooting, resolution.
• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD processes supporting deployments.
• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-based apps, incl. troubleshooting performance/latency issues.
• Experience with incident management and production troubleshooting in complex environments.
• Experience with distributed tracing and diagnosing performance issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide production support and incident triage for cloud-based applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed systems and Kubernetes environments.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments via Jenkins.

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently looking for a Senior Application Support & Systems Engineer with strong GCP, GKE/Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, and production support experience.

This is a contract opportunity with a leading retail company in Toronto (Hybrid, 2-3 days in office).

Must Have skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in production environments.
• Strong experience with GKE/Kubernetes, including supporting and troubleshooting Kubernetes-based applications and environments.

Nice to Have skills

• Experience supporting large-scale retail or eCommerce platforms.
