Job summary

Google's Core team in Waterloo, Ontario is seeking an Android Infrastructure Software Developer. The senior role focuses on building tooling, frameworks, and libraries that power Google's first‑party mobile applications and shapes how hundreds of developers ship Android code.

You'll design and maintain Android developer infrastructure, including build tooling and test automation, while collaborating across product teams to improve developer velocity and product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of Android application development.
• 3 years of testing, maintaining, or launching software products, plus 1 year with large-scale design.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java for Android development.
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Dagger or Hilt (preferred).
• Familiarity with build systems and toolchains such as Bazel/Blaze, Gradle, KSP, or annotation processing (preferred).
• Experience building developer tools that improve velocity, quality, and health (preferred).
• Interest in AI-assisted and agentic developer tooling (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Android developer infrastructure, including build tooling, frameworks, and libraries used across Google's first‑party mobile applications
• Partner cross-functionally with product teams to identify developer productivity bottlenecks and deliver effective solutions
• Lead and participate in design reviews, review code from other developers, and contribute to documentation and educational content
• Triage and resolve product and system issues by analyzing their sources and assessing their impact on service operations and quality
