Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales Planning & Governance, the Senior Analyst plays a critical role at the intersection of strategic planning, analytics, business intelligence, technology, and performance management. This position combines strong analytical capabilities with commercial acumen to deliver actionable insights that support decision-making across the Sales organization.

The Senior Analyst provides market intelligence, financial modeling, valuation analysis, and performance reporting to help identify opportunities, optimize sales channels, and drive value creation for WestJet. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, data-driven storytelling, and the ability to translate complex information into clear business recommendations.

Key Deliverables

• Provide strategic recommendations to Sales Leadership regarding segment, partner, program, and geographic performance, with the objective of maximizing revenue, improving sales effectiveness, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Deliver comprehensive monthly reporting and analysis on partner incentive programs, geographic performance, and partner segment results.
• Partner closely with Sales Directors, Account Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop automated reporting, dashboards, and data visualizations using a variety of analytical tools.
• Collaborate with internal sales teams and external partners to evaluate sales programs against defined goals, objectives, and contractual commitments.
• Provide dedicated analytical and reporting support for both existing and emerging sales initiatives, ensuring performance is accurately tracked and measured.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by collecting, integrating, and validating sales program data, while contributing to the review and explanation of monthly sales and performance variances.
• Prepare and present executive-level reports and presentations that effectively communicate business results, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities within the travel sector.
• Work collaboratively with peer analysts to identify risks and opportunities associated with sales initiatives and recommend actions to improve business outcomes.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives through an in-depth understanding of WestJet's products, processes, systems, and analytical capabilities.

Experience and Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Commerce, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data analysis, including the manipulation and analysis of large, complex datasets.
• Advanced proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong experience with SQL-based data environments, including Microsoft SQL Server and/or Snowflake, for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Experience using VBA, scripting languages, or automation tools to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience developing reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions using Excel, Cognos, Tableau, and Power BI.
• Experience with airline industry data sources and tools, including PRISM, DDS, Revenue Management (ZENZ), SRS Analyzer, FlightStats, or similar platforms, is considered an asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives.
• Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to transform complex data into concise, actionable insights tailored to executive and frontline audiences.
• Proven track record of delivering accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments where attention to detail is critical.
