Job summary

Inter Pipeline is seeking a Senior Analyst, Land Projects in Calgary to lead and coordinate land and regulatory activities across projects. This role requires extensive experience in land administration, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and due diligence, with emphasis on risk assessment and process improvement.

You will mentor junior team members, develop land project standards, and manage land records and compliance across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Petroleum land administration and project support experience.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, GIS, and land management tools.
  • Minimum 10 years surface land experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of departmental and project objectives through land and regulatory activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior analysts and project team members.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve project land processes, templates, procedures, and standards.
  • Lead and coordinate land acquisition, permitting, and stakeholder engagement activities for assigned projects, escalating complex negotiations and disputes as required.
  • Conduct land due diligence, title review, risk assessments, and project planning activities to identify constraints and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate external resources, including brokers, surveyors, and consultants, to support project execution.
  • Prepare, negotiate, administer, and maintain land agreements, permits, registrations, and related land documentation.
  • Maintain project land records, databases, obligations, and compliance requirements.
  • Support acquisitions, divestitures, and business development opportunities through land due diligence and records management.
  • Prepare and submit routine regulatory applications, notifications, permits, and filings related to project and operational activities.
  • Track regulatory approvals, commitments, conditions, and land related compliance obligations, and liaise with Regulatory Advisors on complex or non-routine matters.
  • Support annual landowner communications, pipeline awareness, and damage prevention initiatives.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Description

Located out of our Calgary office and reporting into the Supervisor, Land the Senior Analyst, Land Projects will lead and coordinate a broad range of land and regulatory activities, including land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, due diligence, and compliance management.

Working closely with internal teams, landowners, regulatory authorities, and external service providers, the Senior Analyst, Land Projects will play a key role in advancing project objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering positive stakeholder relationships. Key Activities And Responsibilities

Education, Skills And Experience
  • Petroleum Land Administration Diploma/Certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Commissioner for Oaths in Alberta and Saskatchewan, or eligible to obtain.
  • Minimum 10 years of surface land experience, preferably within the pipeline, utility, or midstream industry.
  • Experience with Alberta and Saskatchewan freehold and Crown land processes, land acquisition, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience coordinating external brokers, surveyors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of land rights, agreements, registrations, title review, due diligence, and land records management.
  • Experience supporting regulatory applications, notifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, LandWorks®, GIS, and related land management tools (Power Automate considered an asset).
  • Ability to interpret survey plans, land title documents, regulatory requirements, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Hours

Monday – Friday, 40 hour per week

As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of a criminal background check assessment with satisfactory results.
