An established industry player is seeking a Senior Analyst in Indirect Tax to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax your responsibilities will include:
• Understanding, analyzing and researching sales tax transactions
• Developing your technical skills and knowledge of our clients' business
• Sharing your knowledge and growth-focused feedback with your colleagues to support their development
• Researching tax legislation and write reports
• Making recommendations and provide solutions to clients
• Actively engaging in sales tax compliance, planning and/or strategy development by analyzing client tax issues, relevant tax law, provisions, and jurisprudence
• Performing research and preparing correspondence in respect of sales tax issues including reorganizations, cross border strategies and other tax planning opportunities
• Liaising with clients and tax authorities for audits, assessments, appeals, and disclosures and conducting research on related tax issues, legislative matters or administrative positions
• Reviewing election requirements and assisting with the preparation of elections and voluntary disclosure returns
• Proactively liaising with our professional colleagues
• Assisting with the overall development of the Doane Grant Thornton brand through internal and external activities and knowledge of industry

• Desire to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a high-performing team
• Strong commitment to professional client service excellence
• Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
• Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
• Well-developed analytical and research skills together with attention to detail
• Willingness to enroll in the CPA Canada In-Depth GST/HST course or equivalent
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and ability to grasp new technology tools.
• Completed undergraduate degree with outstanding academic credentials, preferably in tax, business or accounting
• 1 to 2 years of experience in public practice is preferred, with expressed experience working with Canadian Sales Tax
• A CPA designation or relevant work experience would be an asset
