About IESO

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) operates Ontario’s power system ensuring reliable, affordable electricity. We manage the grid, oversee wholesale markets, and plan for future energy needs.

The Opportunity

The Senior Analyst, Contracts & Initiatives, supports management of electricity supply contracts, including negotiation, development, and administration. The role involves detailed analysis, research, and support for organizational initiatives, reporting to the Supervisor, Contracts & Initiatives.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist with contract management, negotiations, and development, including creating tracking tools, monitoring deliverables, and supporting contract amendments.
  2. Provide technical, commercial, and financial analysis of electricity supply resources using analytical tools, and develop new tools as needed.
  3. Conduct research on electricity markets, resources, and related topics, producing reports and presentations.
  4. Interface with internal teams and external agencies, providing updates and supporting policy and procedural improvements.
  5. Support project management and facilitate meetings across departments.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires 4 years of university training.
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s electricity and natural gas sectors, technical aspects of generation, and market rules.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with contract management, negotiation, and project management principles.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience.
