Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the AI Productivity team. You will design, build, and operate AI-powered services and internal apps to boost developer velocity and reduce toil.

You will own projects end-to-end—from requirements, design, and testing to deployment and on-call support—collaborating with platform, security, and data teams to ensure safe, scalable solutions across Canada.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years in Python, Go, or Java.
• 2+ years integrating ML/LLM into production.
• Experience with AWS or GCP, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with SQL and data modeling; data pipelines experience.
• End-to-end ownership of services including CI/CD and on-call rotation.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AI-powered services and internal apps.
• Own projects end-to-end from requirements to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Developer Platform, ML Platform, Security, and Legal teams.
• Define metrics and run experiments to guide iteration.
• Create tooling and docs to raise AI development standards.
