Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Agentic Analytics Platform, building LLM-powered systems for data practitioners across a modern data infra stack. You will design, implement, and own end-to-end AI-for-Data systems from retrieval to AI-assisted workflows.

You will collaborate with Data Science, ML, Product Engineering, and Data Infra to deliver robust, production-grade tools with strong evals, observability, and cost considerations.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering skills in Python with production services experience.
• Hands-on experience with applied LLM systems (RAG, agentic workflows, prompts, evals).
• Working knowledge of data infra technologies (Python, Airflow, Snowflake, dbt) in production.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and large codebase collaboration.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Build LLM-powered systems end-to-end— retrieval/grounding over internal metadata and code, agentic workflows, evals and quality systems.
• Shape roadmap and drive new AI-for-Data initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data Science, ML, Product Engineering and other Data Infra teams to translate AI ideas into production-grade systems.
