Job summary

Sun Life is seeking a Senior AI Engineer for Corporate IT to design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise AI/ML solutions on AWS. You will combine software engineering and hands‑on AWS AI/ML expertise to deliver secure, scalable, production‑grade AI applications and RAG pipelines.

You will collaborate with architects, data engineers, and stakeholders to deliver AI platforms, automate workflows, and mentor junior team members in a hybrid work model across Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years on AWS.
• Hands‑on experience delivering AI/ML/Generative AI in production.
• Strong Python development skills and RESTful API design.
• Experience with Bedrock and core AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS).
• Experience building RAG solutions and AI agents/tool workflows.
• Knowledge of AWS security, IAM, KMS, secrets management, logging and monitoring.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and IaC (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation).
• Containerization with Docker and ECS/EKS.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate AI/ML/Gen AI solutions on AWS.
• Build production apps using Bedrock foundations with prompt engineering and RAG.
• Design secure RAG pipelines across ingestion to governance.
• Engineer agentic solutions with controlled tool access and memory.
• Build scalable serverless and containerized services (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, ECS/EKS).
• Persist data with S3, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS, and Glue.
• Apply security controls including IAM, KMS and auditable access.
• Implement automated evaluation, testing, monitoring, and cost controls.
• Create CI/CD pipelines and IaC with reusable components and runbooks.
• Produce technical design artifacts and provide post‑production support.
• Collaborate in Agile teams and mentor juniors.
