Job summary

GitLab seeks a Distinguished Engineer to pioneer autonomous, agentic SDLC capabilities across our platform. You will translate complex problems into actionable roadmaps and lead hands-on experiments demonstrating productivity gains.

You will collaborate with Architecture, Product, Infrastructure, and Data/ML teams to codify patterns and scale AI-enabled workflows while ensuring safety and multi-tenant compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with senior technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in AI/ML systems, including production-scale agentic workflows.
• Proven track record leading hands-on experimentation with evaluation frameworks.
• Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems.
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop controls and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and adopt a company-wide technical vision for autonomous, agentic SDLC.
• Identify high-impact productivity opportunities across the SDLC.
• Translate complex problems into actionable roadmaps with cross-functional partners.
• Lead hands-on experiments to validate autonomous workflows.
• Design reference architectures for agentic SDLC with guardrails and observability.
• Define evaluation frameworks measuring correctness, latency, and productivity.
