Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a highly skilled aerodynamicist to generate CFD-driven solutions for Flight Sciences, Loads & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Systems requirements in Dorval, QC. You will collaborate across engineering groups to validate results against experimental data and develop advanced CFD workflows.

The role requires 5–8 years of aerodynamic experience, strong CFD knowledge, and proficiency in Python and shell scripting; CATIA V5 or NX experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Engineering with CFD specialization.
• 5–8 years of relevant aerodynamic experience.
• Knowledge of Navier–Stokes methods, external aerodynamics, stability & control, and aerodynamic loads calculations.
• Knowledge of mesh generation tools (Pointwise) and CAD (CATIA V5 or NX).
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux and HPC best practices.
• Experience with Python and shell scripting.

Responsibilities

• Generate aerodynamic solutions using CFD software in support of Flight Sciences, Loads & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Systems requirements; liaise with engineering groups.
• Produce estimates of external pressure distributions, aerodynamic loads and stability derivatives and validate with experimental data.
• Develop complex CFD workflows for aircraft designs, stability/control analysis, aerodynamic loads calculations or aero-structural optimization.
• Contribute to development of tools for CFD results analysis.
• Improve efficiency of numerical optimization by tuning input parameters and validating new capabilities.
• Develop novel mesh generation, deformation and adaptation techniques, CAD-free and/or CAD-centered, compatible with in-house software and/or grid packages.
• Predict aircraft drag, low-speed characteristics and stall onset using CFD.
• Generate wing structural models and perform static aero-elastic analyses.
• Prepare and participate in wind-tunnel tests, support results analysis and documentation.
• Model simple surfaces and create CAD parametric models with CATIA V5 or NX.
