Job summary

Bombardier Aerospace in Dorval, QC is seeking a loads analysis engineer to conduct simulations and develop both low- and high-fidelity models for external loads analyses on development and in-service aircraft. You will apply rigorous engineering judgment, verify results, and prepare certification documents.

You will collaborate with Flight Characteristics, Structures, Mass Properties, Systems, and Flight Test teams, using C++, Fortran, MATLAB, and Python, and you will engage with HPC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, with Aerospace specialization preferred.
  • Experience in external loads analysis for aircraft designs.
  • Strong programming skills in C++, Fortran, MATLAB, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct simulations and analyses to determine aircraft design loads for new development programs and continued airworthiness.
  • Develop and maintain low- and high-fidelity models to support loads analysis.
  • Contribute to automated frameworks and tools that enhance efficiency and accuracy in loads analysis.
  • Build capabilities for store separation loads analysis to support missionized aircraft programs.
  • Develop nonlinear actuator modeling tools to meet certification requirements.
  • Utilize a wide range of commercial and proprietary tools, including a six-degree-of-freedom aircraft simulator.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to validate and verify analysis results.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Flight Characteristics, Structures, Mass Properties, Systems, Fly-By-Wire, Landing Gear, and Flight Test Support.
  • Prepare and document technical findings in certification reports and engineering presentations.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Apply sound engineering judgment to validate and verify analysis results
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Flight Characteristics, Structures, Mass Properties, Systems, Fly‑By‑Wire, Landing Gear, and Flight Test Support flight test campaigns and perform post‑processing of flight data
  • Prepare and document technical findings in certification reports and engineering presentations
How to thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace specialization preferred)
  • Relevant aerospace industry experience, particularly in external loads analysis
  • Experience in nonlinear modeling and the certification process
  • Strong programming skills: C++, Fortran, MATLAB, and Python
  • Knowledge in numerical and scientific computing
  • Experience with high‑performance computing environments
  • Experience with software development using version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Solid understanding of aircraft flight dynamics, aeroelastic phenomena (flutter, LCO), and unsteady aerodynamics
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis tools (e.g., Nastran)
  • Knowledge of time/frequency domain unsteady aerodynamics
  • Experience with fly‑by‑wire systems and control law integration
  • Understanding of airworthiness regulations and certification documentation
  • Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods clearance
