We are looking for a Senior Advisor to execute internal communication strategies to help the organization’s leaders drive our narrative of progress and unite, inspire and empower our people through a variety of channels. The Senior Advisor will serve as a trusted advisor, working closely with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality, well considered and strategically positioned communication materials, such as remarks and presentations, reports, emails, letters, social posts and internal events.
What will I be doing?
- Implements executive communications activities across internal channels in support of the executive communications strategy, steering communications through the full cycle of research, writing, editing, approvals, and distribution/execution.
- Manages timelines and collaborates with appropriate teams to validate information, review and approve materials and coordinate the dissemination of communications.
- Coordinates logistics and supports the development of content and materials for internal flagship events, including Town Halls and Leadership Forums.
- Supports Metrolinx Board of Director meetings, including reviewing divisional quarterly reports and presentation materials, and developing speaking remarks for the CEO and the Chair in close partnership with the CEO’s office.
- Updates project management tools and ensures documents and records are managed and up to date.
- Identifies, develops, and nurtures meaningful and productive business relationships with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders to facilitate a strong and ongoing understanding of the business and operating environment.
- Provides editorial services during development of corporate communications materials.
- Provides strategic counsel and maintains confidentiality about proposed new corporate policies, plans and programs while they are in development, as part of communication planning.
- Reports on work through KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of our internal communications deliverables.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a diploma or degree in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated progressive experience providing communication support to C-Level executives, including writing remarks.
- Experience building corporate communications plans and developing communications strategies and tactics. Thorough knowledge of communications, business communications and planning, journalism, social media and related theories, principles and practices.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; the ability to translate technical and complex information into clear, concise, and engaging content.
- Professional experience in a fast-paced, high-visibility office.
- Ability to build and maintain meaningful and productive cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to build consensus or influence decisions.
- A meticulous eye for detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, and strong judgment and political acuity.
- Project management experience to lead, manage, and monitor simultaneous projects to tight deadlines, and monitor project performance results. Experience with project management tools such as Asana is considered an asset
