WELLSTAR, a WELL Health Technologies Corp. subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Financial Reporting team and the WELLSTAR business unit through full-cycle accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

This role will prepare financial statements and month-end packages for multiple entities and guide junior staff. You will own the end-to-end revenue accounting cycle across 10 entities, perform complex journal entries, ensure IFRS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
  • Experience owning revenue accounting and revenue reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Experience reviewing journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior staff.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with acquisitions/integrations or finance process improvements is a plus.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end close and financial reporting for the WELLSTAR unit.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for multiple entities.
  • Review complex journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Own end-to-end revenue accounting across 10 entities and ensure proper periodization.
  • Perform revenue reconciliations from multiple billing systems to the GL; investigate variances.
  • Maintain revenue/deferral schedules and provide variance commentary.
  • Ensure IFRS revenue recognition applied consistently and support audit readiness.
  • Provide financial insights to internal stakeholders and lead process improvements.

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Financial Reporting team and the WELLSTAR business unit through full-cycle accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, tax compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for preparing financial statements and month-end reporting packages for multiple entities, reviewing complex journal entries and reconciliations, and providing guidance to junior team members.

What you will be doing:
  • Guide, coach, and support junior team members during the month-end close process for the WELLSTAR business unit.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and month-end financial reporting packages for multiple entities.
  • Perform and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Own the end-to-end revenue accounting cycle across 10 entities, ensuring revenue is recorded completely, accurately, and in the correct entity and period.
  • Complete monthly revenue reconciliations from multiple source billing systems through to the sub-ledger and general ledger, investigating and resolving variances prior to close.
  • Maintain deferred revenue and revenue continuity schedules by entity, and prepare revenue analysis and variance commentary to support month-end reporting.
  • Ensure revenue recognition policies are applied consistently across all entities in accordance with IFRS, and maintain audit-ready documentation of key judgments.
  • Analyze business performance, financial results, and trends to provide meaningful insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, automation, and insight generation within finance and accounting processes.
  • Prepare calculations, analysis, and accounting support for complex transactions.
  • Lead and support post-acquisition integration of general ledger and other finance processes.
  • Oversee provincial and federal sales tax filings and ensure compliance across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and providing explanations as needed.
  • Proactively assess current accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls, and recommend improvements.
  • Lead or support implementation of process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and other departments to support accurate reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional finance duties, special projects, and ad-hoc analysis as required.
You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in public company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience owning revenue accounting and performing revenue reconciliations across multiple entities and source billing systems.
  • Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, or work prepared by junior team members.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with acquisitions, integrations, or finance process improvement initiatives is an asset.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, AI Tools and ERP systems preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
