Job summary

WELL Health Diagnostic Centres in Ontario is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our finance team. This role reports to the Director, Finance & Accounting and offers exposure to AR processes, invoicing, and month-end activities.

You will collaborate with clinics and a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate billing practices and timely collections, gaining hands-on experience with QuickBooks and MS Office in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Accounts Receivable experience an asset.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with medical imaging billing an asset.
  • Experience with QuickBooks an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and training.
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Adaptable and flexible in fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Process day-to-day accounts receivable activities and ensure timely collections.
  • Generate invoices from billing system and submit claims to third-party payers.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts.
  • Address billing queries with customers and resolve disputes.
  • Review customer agreements and ensure proper system setup.
  • Reconcile third-party billing claims and enter data into accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly billing and collections reports for management.
  • Create and maintain AR training documentation for consistency across locations.
  • Provide guidance to clinics on billing processes and rates.
  • Assist with month-end close and related tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform the day-to-day processing of accounts receivable to ensure customer collections are maintained in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Produce invoices from billing system and submit claims to third party billing parties through various mediums.
  • Proactively monitor and follow-up on collections of outstanding accounts.
  • Liaison with customers to professionally address billing queries and/or investigate disputes.
  • Review customer agreements and ensure appropriate setup of systems and procedures.
  • Reconciliation of all third party billing claims and complete entries into accounting system.
  • Preparation of monthly billing & collections reports to management team.
  • Create and update training documentation to ensure consistent and accurate AR processes organization wide.
  • Provide guidance to clinics on billing process and rates.
  • Assist with month-end close.
  • Process procurement orders, contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other requests.
  • Follow-up with clinic procurement requests and inquiries.
  • Source and obtain price quotations from suppliers and prepare purchase orders.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Provide assistance and support to other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
  • Accounts Receivable experience an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with medical imaging billing an asset
  • Experience with Quickbooks an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office (specifically – Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
