THE ROLE

Our client is one of Vancouver's leading real estate developers with a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential real estate. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-designated Senior Accountant looking to transition out of public practice into an exciting industry role.

Reporting to the Controller, you’ll be a key part of the corporate accounting team, managing full-cycle accounting for multiple entities, preparing consolidated financials, and supporting month-end and year-end processes. You’ll work cross-functionally with operations and the tax group, gaining exposure to both the strategic and day-to-day financials of a complex, growth-oriented organization.

This role offers a mix of autonomy and collaboration, with the chance to drive process improvements, contribute to internal reporting, and play a hands-on role in special projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform full cycle accounting and reporting for various entities
• Collaborates with operations, business partners and central tax group to provide timely, accurate financial results and analysis
• Ensures all key balance sheet account schedules are properly maintained, updated, and reconciled monthly
• Respond to inquiries from the Controller and Management regarding financial results and special reporting requests
• Assists with the preparation of key internal financial summary reports and forecasts; in addition to analyzing financial results and KPI metrics for internal stakeholders
• Assist in preparing year-end financial statements and working papers for external auditors.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process
• Assists in establishing and implementing business process improvements
• Preparation of monthly stand-alone and consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
• Participating in various Finance/Accounting Department initiatives and special projects

REQUIREMENTS:

• Our client is looking for an experienced and CPA designated Senior Accountant who has ideally worked in the Construction/Real Estate development sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration
• Minimum 3 years of experience in progressively complex accounting roles
• Proficient knowledge of ASPE accounting standards
• Advanced knowledge of Excel is required and working knowledge of Sage is an asset
• Deadline driven, with superior dedication, attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize deliverables
• A team player with professional written & verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
