GENERAL SUMMARY :
This position will report to the Director of Accounting and Corporate Controller and assist in managing accounting and reporting for SunGro’s Canada business. The person will be responsible preparing monthly financial package for Canada business including additional activities listed below.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual Canadian business financial statements as per IFRS and send it to the US Manager for Consolidation
- Ensure that all Canadian GL accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
- Assist the Director of Accounting in preparing responses to IA audit report comments and findings and also follow up about their completion with different teams
- Proactively seek continuous enhancement in internal controls over business and financial transactions and financial reporting. Assist in reviewing and completing internal controls and assist in preparing and completing process documentation
- Assist in preparation of paperwork for corporate income taxes related to Canadian entities
- Complete monthly sales tax return filing for Canadian business and do sales tax reconciliation
- Assist Director of Accounting in maintaining transfer pricing documentation and other transfer pricing compliance activities
- Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains
- Ad-hoc analysis and support as requested by management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Accounting or CPA Accounting designation required
- Accounting / finance experience required, experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods industry preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and transactions
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Office; limited travel within North America required
