Job summary

Adecco is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our Finance team in Markham, ON. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Finance Manager and covers reconciliations, tax filings, treasury support, and regulatory reporting, with a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems; Sage X3 experience is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and grow professionall.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Reconcile prepaid expenses and fixed assets, including tracking and depreciation
• Prepare and file Canadian and U.S. sales tax returns
• Complete customs and duty filings with regulatory agencies
• Prepare bottle deposit reconciliations and provincial filings
• Support Accounts Payable processes, including invoice coding, processing, and payment preparation
• Prepare commission billings and intercompany transactions
• Assist with treasury activities including reporting, foreign currency monitoring and purchases, and payment setup
• Prepare and submit Statistics Canada filings
• Contribute to process improvements and other finance-related initiatives as required
