Job summary

Distinct | North America is seeking a Senior Accountant in St. Catharines, ON (Hybrid) to join a mid-sized CPA firm.

You will work across accounting, assurance and tax for a varied portfolio of private businesses, not-for-profits, and high-net-worth individuals, with direct client contact and growth potential toward a Manager path. The role offers broad exposure to compilation, review, and tax engagements, with mentorship of junior staff and close access to Managers and Partners, located in St.

Qualifications

• Three plus years of Canadian CPA firm/public accounting experience.
• CPA designation or working toward completion.
• Auditing experience is an asset.
• Experience preparing financial statements and working papers.
• ASPE knowledge.
• ASNPO exposure would be beneficial.
• Personal tax experience.
• Comfortable dealing directly with clients.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.
• CaseWare and Canadian tax software experience useful.

Responsibilities

• Lead compilation engagements from planning through completion.
• Work across review and audit engagements.
• Prepare working papers and financial statements.
• Perform assurance procedures and resolve accounting issues.
• Prepare year-end adjusting entries.
• Prepare T2 corporate tax returns.
• Prepare T1 personal tax returns.
• Assist with other tax and information returns.
• Communicate directly with clients throughout engagements.
• Identify outstanding information and resolve file issues.
• Support Managers and Partners on more complex engagements.
• Review and assist with the development of junior staff.
