Job description

TAAG is a multidisciplinary firm offering a wide range of services for small and medium-sized businesses, individuals, governmental and non-governmental organizations. TAAG’s service lines include accounting and bookkeeping, tax planning, multi-family office services including wealth management, business and corporate law, and marketing and design. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting functions while supervising and mentoring a team of accounting professionals. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform end-to-end accounting responsibilities, ensuring a seamless full-cycle process.
  • Perform and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and submit personal and corporate income tax returns.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and other financial accounts.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring team efficiency and productivity.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting staff, including performance evaluations, workload distribution, and professional development.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Actively promote the firm’s services to support business development.
  • Partner with leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

Qualifications :

  • At least five years of relevant work experience in accounting.
  • Experience working with small to medium-sized businesses.
  • Possess an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or a post-secondary degree in accounting.
  • Familiarity with ASPE / IFRS standards is an asset.
  • Proficient in Excel, Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, TaxPrep, and CaseWare.
  • Skilled in managing complex situations with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to address client inquiries effectively.
  • Comfortable promoting firm services and working both on-site and off-site with clients.
  • Detail-oriented and able to deliver quality results under tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative leader and team-oriented professional.
  • Bilingual (English / French) is considered an asset.
