Job summary

RiseMe in Montreal, QC is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support month-end and year-end closes.

You will analyze financial statements under ASPE and US GAAP, collaborate with operations, purchasing, and heads of departments, and drive process improvements and ERP-driven reporting. This role offers growth in accounting operations and exposure to intercompany activity.

Qualifications

• The candidate has 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environments.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian ASPE, US GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial modeling in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements per ASPE and US GAAP.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze variances against budget, forecast, and prior year results.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights for decision-making.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with policies.
• Collaborate with operations, purchasing, engineering, sales, and head office to improve processes.
• Support intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
• Provide daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial analysis and KPI reporting.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation via ERP/AI tools.
• Develop, maintain, and improve accounting procedures, controls, and SOPs.
• Mention mentoring junior staff and guiding AP/AR teams.

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting month-end and year-end closes, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, Canadian ASPE and GAAP. Responsibilities align closely with the accounting activities described in Senior Accountant candidate reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with ASPE and US GAAP.

• Analyze P&L and balance sheet variances against budget, forecast, and prior year results.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across the organization.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
• Collaborate with operations, purchasing, engineering, sales, and head office teams to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Support intercompany and interdivisional accounting, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
• Prepare daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial analysis and KPI reporting for management.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced reporting through ERP systems and AI-enabled tools.
• Develop, maintain, and improve accounting procedures, controls, and SOPs.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation is preferred but not required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environment.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian ASPE, US GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Streamline, Business Central, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting process improvement, automation, and reporting initiatives is considered an asset.
