Job summary

Infotek Consulting Inc. is seeking an experienced Accountant, Advanced (Insurance Reporting) in Mississauga, ON. The role supports IFRS 17 reporting, monthly/quarterly close, and automation initiatives in a hybrid setup with in-office presence at least two days per week.

You will analyze journal entries, assist with external audits, and collaborate with finance partners to enhance consolidated reporting and forecasting accuracy.

Qualifications

• CPA/CA/CGA/CMA or equivalent accounting designation or experience (3+ years).
• Experience in financial services with progressive finance roles.
• Exceptional Excel skills are essential.
• Power Query experience is required.
• Knowledge of investment products or investment accounting is a plus.
• Experience handling large data sets and automating processes.
• Strong communication and ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly journal entries, financial statements and reporting packages.
• Support Investment Finance reporting, including manual journal entries and investment result analysis.
• Investigate results, perform variance analysis and handle ad hoc reporting requests.
• Document, streamline and automate manual journal entries and month-end close processes.
• Support interim and year-end external audit requests.
• Research and implement new or changed reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to improve consolidated reporting and forecasting.

Accountant, Advanced (Insurance Reporting)

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid, minimum 2 days per week in office)

Duration: 12-month contract

About the opportunity

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is looking for a seasoned accountant to join its Insurance Finance Reporting team. You will support monthly and quarterly reporting while helping reduce manual effort in the month-end close as part of an IFRS 17 finance and actuarial transformation program.

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly journal entries, financial statements and reporting packages, with accuracy and on tight timelines
• Support Investment Finance reporting, including manual journal entries and investment result analysis
• Investigate results, run variance analysis and handle ad hoc reporting requests
• Document, streamline and automate manual journal entries and month-end close processes
• Support interim and year-end external audit requests
• Research and implement new or changed reporting requirements
• Work with business partners and the wider Finance team to improve consolidated reporting and support forecasting

What you need

• Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent experience (3 years)
• 3+ years in financial services in progressive finance roles
• Exceptional Excel skills (essential)
• Power Query experience
• Knowledge of investment products, investment accounting or financial reporting for investments
• Experience working with large data sets and automating manual processes
• Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail (this is a seasoned role, not a junior one)
• Strong communication skills, and the ability to juggle competing priorities and shifting requests

Nice to have

• IFRS 17 or insurance financial reporting experience
• Power BI or Tableau (dashboards and reports)
• Experience with month-end close automation

Quarter-end and year-end periods (February, May, August and November) are critical, so please flag any planned time off up front.
