Job summary

Professional Staffing seeks a Senior Accountant to join the growing finance team in Edmonton. The role covers full-cycle accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and project accounting within a fast-paced, project-based environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of owning their work while collaborating with both finance and operations teams. Reporting to the CFO, you will drive month-end close, intercompany reconciliations, GST filings, and cash-flow analysis.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong full-cycle accounting experience.
• Payroll experience required.
• Experience with project accounting or job costing is a must.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
• CPA designation or actively working toward CPA is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
• Process payroll and ensure all related remittances and year-end requirements are completed accurately.
• Assist with GST, payroll, and other government filings.
• Support year-end activities and work with external accounting partners as required.
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Track project expenses, budgets, and costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project performance and identify variances or potential cost concerns.
• Work with project and operations teams to ensure expenses are accurately recorded and allocated.
• Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for the CFO and leadership team.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
