Overview & Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant's main function is to support the day-to-day functions of the Americas Ledgers and Controls team, including preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, analyzing financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting accounts payable and receivable for the assigned location and business unit.

This role requires frequent interaction within the Americas Accounting Shared Service Center, Corporate Functions (payroll, tax, fixed assets, etc.), Operations, and with colleagues from all regions.

Responsibilities include adherence to controls related to expense and revenue recognition, fixed asset management, payroll, inventory management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany, recording and monitoring reserves, and supporting other shared service activities for the Americas Region.

The Senior Accountant will also support the Canada and Americas month-end close process, posting journal entries, performing POC revenue recognition calculations, and conducting account analysis, validations, and reconciliations as assigned.

This position requires compliance with Elliott's accounting policies and procedures and the ability to meet strict deadlines. The incumbent will work with the Accounting Manager and Regional Manager to identify synergies and improvement areas for handling special situations.

Job Responsibilities

1. Participate in month-end close activities (journal entries, calculations, analysis, inter-unit/intercompany validations).
2. Support physical inventory, fixed assets, and US GAAP/IFRS revenue recognition.
3. Reconcile general ledger activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.
4. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations in ARCS – Oracle.
5. Prepare variance analysis compared to prior periods.
6. Support financial reporting for the Global Services Field Service and Repairs product lines.
7. Assist with internal and external audits.
8. Process payroll and manage fixed assets for Global Services.
9. Maintain warranty files for Global Services.
10. Manage the full cycle of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
11. Limit FX exposure through hedging where necessary.
12. Prepare bank reconciliations and cash flow reports.
13. Assist the Tax Department with tax issues and reporting.
14. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and income tax filings.
15. Identify synergies to improve workflow efficiency.
16. Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
17. Undertake special assignments and projects as directed.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least five years of relevant experience, or a two-year degree with six years of experience in a manufacturing operation.
• CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail with accuracy in financial records.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of internal control practices.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and accounting systems.
• Experience supporting Operations and a strong financial controls background.
