Job summary

Jobgether SRL in Canada is seeking a Senior Accountant to own day-to-day financial operations, including AP/AR, billing, cash, and month-end close. You will automate processes and apply AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the speed of the close.

The role collaborates with Finance leadership in a remote-first, fast-moving environment, with opportunities to contribute to controls, systems, and growth-related accounting initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience across AP, AR, Billing, and GL.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and experience using Ramp or comparable expense-management tools.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet close deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, ownership-oriented in a remote environment.
  • Interest in AI, automation, and technology to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own the accounts payable cycle, including processing and coding vendor invoices, approvals, payments, and vendor relations.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, invoicing, collections, cash application, and follow-up on balances.
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices per contract terms and resolve billing questions.
  • Perform daily/monthly bank and cash reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Review expense reports for policy compliance and manage corporate card program.
  • Support monthly close with journal entries, accruals, schedules, and documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items for Controller review.
  • Support annual audits with schedules and requested documentation.
  • Improve accounting policies, controls, and workflows; drive automation initiatives.
  • Contribute to system improvements and cross-functional projects.

Job description

Senior Accountant based in the Canada.

This is a hands-on senior accounting role responsible for keeping day-to-day financial operations accurate, timely, and audit-ready.

You will manage activities spanning accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash, expenses, reconciliations, and month-end close.

The role offers broad ownership across the general ledger and close process, with regular collaboration across Finance and other business teams.

You will work closely with senior finance leaders while having the autonomy to investigate issues, improve processes, and drive solutions.

A key focus will be using automation and AI-enabled tools to reduce manual work and improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.

Accountabilities
  • Own the accounts payable cycle, including processing and coding vendor invoices, verifying approvals, preparing payment runs, and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Manage accounts receivable activities, including customer invoicing, collections, cash application, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and resolve billing questions or discrepancies.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Review and process employee expense reports for policy compliance, accuracy, and appropriate coding, while administering the corporate card program.
  • Support the monthly close by preparing journal entries, accruals, schedules, and other required accounting documentation.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and research and resolve reconciling items for review by the Controller.
  • Support annual financial statement audits by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Help maintain and improve accounting policies, internal controls, process documentation, and operational workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and apply AI and modern technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the speed of the close.
  • Contribute to accounting system improvements, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and experience using Ramp or comparable expense-management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization, with the ability to meet close deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, ownership-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in using AI, automation, and technology to improve accounting workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA qualification is a plus.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS organization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition under ASC 606 and SaaS billing processes is a plus.
