Irving Shipbuilding Inc. seeks a Security Shift Supervisor for the Halifax Shipyard.

The role provides leadership to a Security Officers team in a 24/7 setting, overseeing patrols, post inspections, incident reporting, and training delivery to ensure the safety of assets and personnel. Qualifications include 5+ years in security or related fields and 3+ years in supervision, with strong communication skills and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Security, Law enforcement, military or Emergency Response.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervising or management.
• Ability to support and motivate in a 24/7/365 operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A clean driving record and a valid Driver’s License.

Job description

Security Shift Supervisor – Halifax Shipyard

Reporting to the Site Security Manager and the Assistant Manager, the Shift Supervisor is responsible to provide direction and oversight to group of Security Officers within a 24/7 operation and oversee their activities to ensure protection of the Company’s assets, properties and resources.

Responsibilities

The candidate’s key responsibilities would include:

• Supervising security team at the Halifax Shipyard
• Performing daily post inspections
• Performance management for direct reports
• Training compliance for new hires
• Ensuring all occurrence reports are written and submitted in a timely manner
• Coordinating daily patrols of internal sites and parking areas.
• Issuing summary offense tickets for parking violations
• Medical First Response to various incidents
• Supervision and coordination of Security Incidents
• Conducting daily shift briefing with security team
• Maintaining a log of all daily occurrences and reports
• Performing walk-throughs of HMCS Vessels every shift
• Conducting and coordinating training as required
• Assuming overall command of team during a critical incident or major security event in absence of the Site Security Manager or Assistant Manager

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Security, Law enforcement, military or Emergency Response
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervising or management
• Ability to support and motivate in a 24/7/365 operations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with training implementation and delivery would be an asset
• A clean driving record and a valid Driver’s License
