Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Professional - Mobile Patrol in Brampton, Ontario. The role pays $19.45 per hour, full-time, with a day–night 12‑hour continental shift. You will safeguard a shelter environment and ensure safety for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include access control, de-escalation, incident reporting, and collaboration with shelter personnel. Prior shelter/hospital experience and a valid Ontario guard license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of security experience in a shelter or similar environment.
• Proven experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Strong verbal de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and stay calm under pressure.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada; overnight shifts available.

Responsibilities

• Access Control & Monitoring: verify IDs, manage entry logs, and ensure only authorized individuals enter the shelter.
• De-escalation & Conflict Management: respond to incidents, use verbal de-escalation techniques, maintain calm conduct.
• Safety & Security Patrols: conduct routine patrols, identify hazards, secure doors and exits.
• Emergency Response: respond to medical/fire/behavioral emergencies, assist evacuations, follow protocols.
• Incident Documentation: complete detailed reports and communicate with staff and emergency services.
• Collaboration with Shelter Staff: provide security support during resident interactions and high-risk situations.

Overview

Allied Universal® is seeking experienced Security Professional - Mobile Patrol to provide security services at a shelter environment in Brampton, Ontario. This role requires individuals who have prior experience working in shelters hospitals, supportive housing or similar high-interaction environments, supporting vulnerable populations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong de-escalation skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting, and professionalism when managing challenging behaviors. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and controlled environmentfor residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Access Control & MonitoringControl and monitor access to the facilityVerify identification, manage entry logs, and ensure only authorized individuals enter the shelter
• De-escalation & Conflict ManagementRespond to behavioral incidents involving shelter residents or visitorsUtilize verbal de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approachesMaintain calm, professional conduct in high-stress or emotionally charged situations
• Safety & Security PatrolsConduct routine patrols of the interior and exterior of the facilityIdentify and report safety hazards, suspicious behavior, or policy violationsSecure doors, exits, and restricted areas

Key Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• First Aid & CPR Certification
• Must be 25 years of age or older for driving insurance
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience)
• Legally eligible to work in Canada (up to 40 hours per week)
• Ability to work overnight shifts
