Job summary

Accor invites applications for a Security Officer at Fairmont Empress in Victoria, BC, overlooking the Inner Harbour. You will help ensure the safety of guests, staff and the hotel while providing information and a courteous welcome.

duties include patrolling, monitoring CCTV, acting as First Aid Attendant, and coordinating with local security agencies. Excellent English, BC security license, and flexibility for all shifts are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • BST certificate and Valid BC Security License or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid Intermediate 2 certification.
  • Bondable and eligible to work in Canada.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication.
  • Availability for all shifts including evenings, overnights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure hotel, guest and employee safety.
  • Greet guests and provide information.
  • Respond to incidents per Fairmont standards.
  • Perform patrols and maintain a visible security presence.
  • Monitor CCTV systems.
  • Act as First Aid Attendant on duty.
  • Coordinate with municipal, federal or corporate security.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will be doing:
  • Ensure the safety of the hotel, guests and employees
  • Greet guests and visitors, respond to inquiries and provide information
  • Research and report any incidents in accordance with standards of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts
  • Perform interior and exterior patrols of hotel property and be a visible security presence while on duty
  • Monitor CCTV camera system
  • Act as First Aid Attendant and respond to all first aid calls while on duty
  • Maintain effective relationships with Municipal, Federal or Corporate security/police forces
  • Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
  • Previous experience in a customer service related position
  • BST certificate and Valid BC Security License or willingness to obtain a Security License
  • First Aid Intermediate 2
  • Bondable
  • Completely fluent English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be available for all shifts including evenings, overnight shifts and weekends.
  • Clear, professional and helpful communication in person and over the phone
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • A high level of responsibility and ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to provide excellent service and exceed guests' expectations
  • Impeccable grooming and presentation
Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including:
  • Standing/walking for extended periods of time
  • Performing repetitive work
Visa Requirements:

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
