Calgary Drop-In Centre Society is seeking a full-time Security professional for a 7 PM–7 AM, 4 on/4 off rotation at 1 Dermot Baldwin Way SE, Calgary, Alberta. The role focuses on safe, compassionate protection, de-escalation, and client-centered support for staff, clients, volunteers, and visitors.

The ideal candidate holds an Alberta Security License, First Aid/CPR, and experience in high-stress situations, with strong time management and interpersonal skills to maintain a safe and welcoming

Competenze

• Alberta Security License is mandatory.
• Basic First Aid and CPR/AED Level C (or A) certification required.
• Experience working in distress and/or high-stress situations, including emergency response.
• Energetic and self-directed with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Resiliency and ability to maintain composure in high-volume, volatile situations.
• Sound decision-making and critical thinking when information is unclear.
• Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
• High morals, ethics and integrity; able to obtain Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Genuine commitment to the agency's mission and values.

The Opportunity

Schedule: 4 on/4 off rotation, 48 hours per rotation, 7PM - 7AM

What You'll Do

Every role at the DI makes a difference. In this position, you will:

• Champion a safe, welcoming environment by fostering security by approaching every situation with humility, compassion, and a commitment to dignity for all.
• Lead with calmness and respect during high-pressure situations, utilizing non-violent crisis intervention strategies to achieve safe, respectful, and positive outcomes, including when individuals must be asked to leave the premises.
• Serve as a trusted and approachable resource, engaging with clients, volunteers, donors, and community members with empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to helping them find the right supports.
• Monitor, patrol, and safeguard the facility and surrounding property through proactive observation, CCTV surveillance, regular security patrols, and effective communication with the control room, helping ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for clients, staff, volunteers, and community members.
• Play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming community by providing a visible 24/7 security presence, collaborating with emergency responders while remaining alert, responsive, and prepared to meet the physical and dynamic demands of maintaining a safe environment for all.

What we need from you

• Alberta Security License is MANDATORY
• Basic First Aid and CPR/AED Level C (or A) certification required
• Experience working in distress and/or high-stress situations, which may include emergency response
• Energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with several priorities at the same time
• Resiliency and stress tolerance and the ability to maintain composure, remain calm and focused when dealing with a high volume of volatile and stressful situations
• The ability to make sound rational decisions based on information provided and employ critical thinking where information may not be clear
• Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills
• High morals, ethics and integrity
• Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
• A genuine commitment to the mission, vision, values, and work of the agency

Nice to Have's

• Completion of a college or university program in any of the following; human services, police sciences, criminology or other related programs is a definite asset
• Previous work experience or background in military or law enforcement may replace formal education requirements
• Experience in the human services field would be an asset
• Experience with CCTV, access control systems and fire response systems is an asset
• Resourcefulness and knowledge of community resources and social support systems
