Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Professional Security Guard in Winnipeg, MB. The role involves protecting people and property, patrolling facilities, and responding to incidents with professionalism. Ideal candidates will have a Grade 12, security license, CPR/First Aid, and strong communication skills.

This casual, site-based position offers $20.50 per hour and requires availability on Sundays and Mondays. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adhere to safety

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Prior work experience in a customer service environment is a definite asset.
• Previous experience working as a security guard (or equivalent) is beneficial.
• WHMIS and safety courses are assets.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
• Provincial security license and certification for intervention & de-escalation are required.

Overview

Allied Universal is seeking an experienced Security guard to oversee security operations at our Canadian site in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

EDUCATIONAND/OREXPERIENCE:

FUNCTIONALRESPONSIBILITIES:

Jobdutiesforthispositionfallintothetwobroadandoverlappingcategoriesof:

• Providingexceptionalserviceinordertoenhancecustomerexperience;and
• Ensuringcompliancewiththestandards,rulesandregulationsattheProperty.

Specificdutiesinclude,butarenotlimitedtothefollowing:

• BeproactiveinhelpingeveryonehaveanoutstandingcustomerexperienceattheProperty;
• Perform highly visible patrols of assigned patrol areas/zones (by foot, bicycle, vehicle) and positively engage with tenants, guests, visitors and employees on an ongoing basis;
• Approach guests or visitors at directory boards, within building lobbies, and elsewhere to offer directions or general assistance;
• Work closely with the Manager’s other departments at the Property, especiallythe guest services and tenant services departments, to provide customer service support to tenants, guests, visitors and employees;
• Maintain a strong knowledge of activities and special events at the Property and assist visitors and guests during their visit to the Property;
• Assist visitors, guests and tenants’ employees with specific problems, such as safety concerns, requests for directions, escorts, assistance with packages, misplaced vehicles, etc.;
• ProtectthePropertyandmaintainasafeandwelcomingenvironment;
• EnforcetherulesandregulationsatthePropertyinafairandresponsiblemanner;
• Support of the Managers Joint Health & Safety Committee and program to ensure occupational safety is prioritized and effectively practiced throughout all areas of property operations;
• Reportandfollowuponhazardsand/ordeficienciesidentifiedduringthecourseofduty;
• Observeandreportcriminalactivitytothepoliceandassistthepoliceupontheirarrivaland during their attendance at the Property;
• Assisttenants/merchantsrespondtocrimesthathaveoccurredatthePropertyandensure appropriate law enforcement authorities are summoned;
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR or AED support as necessary until medical professionals arrive;
• PreparewrittenreportsusingtheManager’sstandardreport-writingprogram;
• DealwithtrespassersandunauthorizedpersonsfoundonthePropertyinafairandsafemanner;
• Remainpreparedtorespondtocrime,disturbances andemergencysituationsas pertraining andprocedure;
• Operate and maintain a range of security systems and equipment, including two-way radios;
• Facilitateaccesstorestrictedareasforauthorizedpersons;and
• ControlvehicletrafficontheProperty.

PHYSICALDEMANDS:

• Flexibleandadaptableindealingwithdiversesituationsandpeople;and teamplayer;
• Must have a corrected visual acuity of at a minimum level of 20/20 or better (both eyes)
• Must be able to hear and comprehend conversations at a distance of 10 feet;
• Extended periods of walking and standing, periodic sitting, kneeling, bending and use of basic motor skills;
• Ability to Stand and Patrol: must be able to stand and/or patrol for extended periods, often for the duration of an entire shift.
• Lifting and Carrying: must have the ability to lift and/or carry equipment, such as fire extinguishers or barricades, weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Must be able to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and navigate uneven terrain both indoors and outdoors.
• Must be able to provide emergency response to incidents, including the ability to move quickly (ex. walking briskly or running short distances) in response to emergency.
