Job summary

Paladin Security seeks a Campus Security Officer to patrol campus facilities, monitor CCTV and access points, respond to emergencies, enforce safety policies, and assist with escorts and events.

Role requires a BC Security License, BC Class 5 Driver's License, and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Prior security experience is preferred.

• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings, facilities, parking lots and surroundings on foot or by vehicle.
• Monitor access points to verify authorized entry.
• Respond to alarms, incidents, medical or fire emergencies promptly.
• Conduct safety inspections of doors, lighting and equipment.
• Enforce campus rules in a professional manner.
• Provide escorts to students, staff or visitors when needed.
• Investigate incidents and complete written reports.
• Operate security systems, cameras and communication gear.
• Assist with crowd control and event management.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and campus departments.
• Participate in ongoing emergency response and safety training.

Job description

The Campus Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Officers at our Campus facilities conduct regular foot patrols, monitor CCTV cameras, provide first aid, enforce safety regulations, respond to incidents, and provide assistance to the campus community.

• Patrol campus buildings, facilities, parking lots, and surrounding areas on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Respond promptly to alarms, calls for service, disturbances, medical emergencies, fire incidents, or security breaches.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of doors, windows, lighting, fire extinguishers, and emergency equipment.
• Enforce campus rules, regulations, and policies in a professional and respectful manner.
• Provide escorts for students, staff, or visitors when requested to ensure personal safety.
• Investigate suspicious activities, safety hazards, accidents, thefts, or other incidents, and complete detailed written reports.
• Monitor and operate security systems, cameras, and communication equipment.
• Assist with crowd control and traffic management during special events, emergencies, or evacuations.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff to support a safe and inclusive campus community.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other campus departments as needed.
• Participate in ongoing training related to emergency response, de-escalation, and safety procedures.
